Joel Speir, DO, IM, ABIM

Joel Speir, DO, is an Internal Medicine physician serving both as hospitalist for Mesa View Regional Hospital and as a primary care physician at Mesa View Medical Group in Mesquite, Nevada. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

After earning his Bachelor of Science Degree from Utah Valley University, Dr. Speir went on to study Medicine at the Rocky Vista College of Osteopathic Medicine. There he received Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine after which he served an internship and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident.

As the first physician in his family, Dr. Speir grew up with a fascination for science and physiology. While serving a mission in the Philippines, he developed a passion for helping people get as well as they can and to maintain their health. He was drawn to the specialty of Internal Medicine because of the multitude and complexity of conditions covered by this specialty category.

His approach to quality patient care is to work together with patients to help set the patients’ health goals. His philosophy is first listening to patients and observing them. He then believes in educating patients as much as possible and supporting them in their objectives with an appropriate plan of care.

When not seeing patients, Dr. Speir enjoys time with his wife and two children, weightlifting, cheering for his wife in pickleball and cooking over an open fire.

Dr. Speir is now accepting new patients of all ages. He is an independent member of the Mesa View Regional Hospital Medical Staff.
